.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 150 PM CST Sun Feb 22 2026

A much colder and drier airmass continues to move into the region
under strong northwest winds. Winds will decrease some this
evening and tonight but remain in the 10 to 15 mph range. The wind
combined with lows in the upper 20 and low 30s will lead to wind
chill values of 15 to 20 degrees inland and 20 to 25 along the
coast. A Cold Weather Advisory has been issued for tonight due to
the low wind chill values. Highs on Monday will only be in the
mid/upper 40s inland to low 50s along the coast. Monday night will
be the coldest night with low/mid 20s inland to upper 20s/low 30s
along the coast. Temps moderate back into the mid/upper 50s in
most areas on Tuesday.

Highs quickly warm back into the lower 70s on Wednesday and the
middle 70s on Thursday as southerly winds return to the region.
The dry weather conditions will persist through Wednesday evening,
followed by increasing rain chances late Wednesday through
Thursday night ahead and along another approaching cold front.
This weaker front should move across the area Thursday night, with
rain ending on Friday. /13

A Red Flag Warning has been issued for southeast Mississippi again
on Monday due to the combination of strong winds and low humidity
levels. While the requirement of a moderate significant fire
potential for the issuance of a Red Flag Warning for southwest
Alabama and northwest Florida is not being met, officials should
be on the alert as any fires that develops may catch and spread
