.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 1252 PM CDT Fri Jul 25 2025

Today is a near rinse and repeat of yesterday`s forecast, as an
area of low pressure continues to skirt westward along the central
Gulf Coast. This low, currently south of the central LA coast
will continue to move westward today, as high pressure builds
westward from Florida. Strong southerly flow will persist over the
local area, providing an abundance of moisture for continuous
showers and storms to impact the area. Additionally, the onshore
flow will keep a continued High Risk of Rip current through
tonight, which will lessen as we go through the weekend. Some
higher rainfall rates are possible today, with the tropical
airmass in place, so a few instances of ponding of water in our
poor drainage is possible once again. Storms should taper off
overnight, with one more day of numerous showers possible on
Saturday.

The aforementioned ridge will build into the region on Saturday,
with rain chances decreasing through the first part of the new
work week. The dome of high pressure moves overhead on Monday, and
slowly moves westward through the week. Meanwhile, the surface
high will move just south of the area, keeping a southerly flow
over the region. This will set the stage for a prolonged period of
dangerous heat conditions from Sunday through Wednesday.
Temperatures will climb into the upper 90s during this timeframe,
with the southerly flow keeping dewpoint in the lower to mid 70s.
This will lead to apparent temps in the 108-113 degree range, with
overnight lows only falling into the mid to upper 70s. The
combination of extreme heat during the day and limited cooling
overnight will exacerbate heat related illnesses. Still a bit
early for issuing heat related headlines, but one will likely be
needed by Monday. /73

.MARINE...
Issued at 1252 PM CDT Fri Jul 25 2025

A moderate onshore flow will continue through today as the surface
high pressure area persists across the eastern Gulf. Winds will
then decrease through Saturday and become somewhat variable on
Sunday as the surface high pressure area moves west over our area.
A northwesterly to westerly flow will follow Monday and Tuesday
as the surface high moves off to the west. Seas around 3 to 4 feet
today will subside to around 2 feet over the weekend into early
next week. /73
